Perceptions of Childhood
When I was a child,
running ‘round and free,
There were other kids,
who couldn’t even see.
When I was a child, I
had many rights.
There were other
kids, who’d get in many fights.
When I was a child,
many gifts received,
There were other
kids, who only half believed.
When I was a child, I
got to go and play,
There were other
kids, with only one more day.
When I was a child, I
had good health,
There were other
kids, who longed for better wealth.
When I was a child, I
went to school and home,
There were other
kids, who’d be there all alone.
When I was a child,
I’d never want to leave,
There were other
kids, who differently perceived.
